Carter owes nothing to berri tiga.

Lemme add mouth a little about this berri tiga and Carter efe matter about machala song.

I’m sure everyone already knows the popular hit single titled Machala trending on TikTok. Now, since after the song blew up and made it to the top 5 charts in Nigeria. Alot of controversy popped up which later caused the song to be taken out of apple music. Reasons being that ownership rights were being dragged by Carter efe and berri tiga.

Berri claims he’s the owner of the song cos he composed and sang everything, and even added that the Carter offered him 5% 0f royalties which the song will make, after having proposed to pay him off with 100k naira.
On Carter’s part, he accepts that berri wrote the song but he was the owner as he payed everything expense from production to marketing and distribution in an effect to show love to wizkid and also to blow up berri who was currently under 25k followers. He further claims the was supposed to be hotkid on the song but berri beg that hotkid be removed since hotkid is like a mid-career artist and him an upcomer.

Now. My opinion.
After having followed up the whole story for a week now. I have to say this without fear of contradiction. Berri tiga is listening to the talks of others who weren’t there from the start.

First of all, berri did not promote that song as much as Carter did. Secondly, berri isn’t a die-hard fan of wizkid and won’t have just created a song about wizkid and brought it to Carter if Carter didn’t give him the concept. Again, I suspect that even when berri finished that song he didn’t think it will blow up cos if he did any management related issues as regards royalties and percentage would have been discussed and signed before song release not after.
Why didn’t berri bring up his management team from the start of creation, he only waited on till when the song blew up and he saw Carter was making millions (bookings, streamings) that’s when he thought it wise to come and say he owns the song.(why then wasn’t he pushing the song even on his social media handles). I’m very certain that friends just talked that guy into saying the things he’s saying now online, they want Carter to split 50/50 cos Carter doesn’t know how to sing and Carter is the one getting all the praises not berri.

One educative thing I will say is this. In music business, the singer must not necessarily be the owner. Rights can be sold and documented on paper. Free will can be done as well.
You think dj Khaled pays Rick Ross all the time that he calls him up for a song.? No.(free will- those niggas friendship has long lasted for 10yrs+ now. They see themselves more like brothers who are successful on an individual level)

Larry gaaga in Nigeria isn’t a singer, nor writer. He’s a business man but yet he has millions of views on his YouTube videos on songs which he featured wizkid, patoranking, flavour etc. They did business.
You come, I pay production, you sing, I pay you off or we talk percentage on royalties and rights to perform the song, I pay the marketing and distribution and I reap by profit if the song blows. Full stop.

Berri tiga is just trying to gain public sympathy as an avenue to promote his soon to be released single which to be he would have still begged Carter to help promote it for him same as he did Machala on his TikTok and Instagram since he has more followers.

Be careful on your way to the top not to burn old bridge cos if u fall u might need them to climb back up.
